Katie Beth Pate scored a game-high 20 points, but the Lady Bisons faltered in the second half in a 70-62 loss Thursday night at Campbell.
Pate also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and blocked a game-high five shots, one more than all of the Campbell players combined.
The Lady Bisons took control of the game early, leading from the first shot, a jumper by Catie Woods.
On three different occasions in the first half the Lady Bisons led by 12 points. The last time they held such an advantage was 7:21 of the first half when Pate scored on a lay-up to make it 23-11.
Campbell went on a 12-2 run that started with a jump shot by Dasha Green that trimmed the Lady Bisons lead to two at 23-21.
The Lady Bisons started a short rally that gave them a 29-23 lead at intermission.
In the second half the Lady Bisons continued to be in control, leading by 10 points at 49-39 on a lay-up Pate with 10:36 left to play.
Beginning at 10:24 Campbell went on a 13-3 run, sparked at the start by a jump shot by Letitia Dickson. A 3-pointer by Dickson with 7:14 left capped the run, and tied the score at 52-52.
Campbell did not lead in the game until the 5:50 mark of the second half when a lay-up by Adrienne Rieley put the Lady Camels ahead 56-54.
Campbell iced the game with a 10-5 run that started at 2:15.
The only other Lady Bisons player to score in double figures was Julie Martin with 10 points. It was only the second time this season that Martin has scored in double figures.
Courtney Boynton fell short of double figures in scoring with nine points, but she had an impressive stats line with seven assists which tied her season high, seven rebounds, also tying a season-high, and three steals.
The Lady Bisons played without Kaleigh Grossman, who has been an offensive and rebounding force in the last several games. She apparently has a shoulder injury.
Dickson led Campbell with 15 points. Green added 12.
The Lady Bisons slipped to13-11 overall, 10-7 in the A-Sun. Campbell is 8-16 overall, 6-11 in the conference.
