Lipscomb's Lady Bisons basketball team extended its home winning streak to 10 games and Atlantic Sun winning streak to nine games with a 71-55 victory Saturday afternoon over Campbell University at Allen Arena.
The Lady Bisons are tied for sixth in the NCAA for the longest home winning streak with Kentucky and Northwestern St.
The victory also raised the Lady Bisons record to 8-3, overall, 5-0 in the conference. They are the only undefeated team in conference play.
"We could still be playing better," said Lipscomb coach Frank Bennett.
The Lady Bisons trailed for the first time in three games early as Campbell took a 2-0 advantage with the first field goal of the game by Kristin Vuckovich. Lynn Roller answered with a 3-pointer at 18:37 and the Lady Bisons never trailed again.
Using a combination of 3-point shots and lay-ups the Lady Bisons were never seriously challenged in the first half. The Lady Bisons largest lead of the first half was 24 points (39-15) as Katie Beth Pate hit a lay-up with 2:23 left.
"I thought we came out with good focus and good intensity in the first half," Bennett said. "Campbell came out against us with a triangle-and-two defense. We did a good job of finding weaknesses and getting good shots."
It was much the same in the second half as the Lady Bisons lowest points margin was 16 points at final buzzer.
The Lady Bisons twice led by 25 points, the last time at 10:32 as Pate made the first of two free throws.
"Most of our games have been decided in the last couple of minutes," Bennett said. "This is the first game since we played Fisk (Dec. 7) that we have had a comfortable margin in the final three minutes."
Courtney Boynton led the way for the Lady Bisons with a game-high 24 points, the fourth time this season she has scored more than 20 points in a game and the 10th time this season that she has finished in double figures.
Boynton was the only Lady Bisons player to reach double figures in scoring. Lynn Roller came close with nine points.
Boynton and Pate tied for the rebound lead with four each. Campbell beat the Lady Bisons 44-30 on the boards.
Jennifer Martin led Campbell with 11 points. Dasha Green added 10.
