Final Stats

The Lady Bisons celebrated "Senior Day" but little else to cheer about.

In the final home game of the regular season at Allen Arena the Lady Bisons fell 80-68 to Campbell in Atlantic Sun action Saturday evening.

After the game Keirstin Head, Penny Jones and Julie Martin were honored for their service to the team.

"Julie and Keirstin were on our NCAA tournament team," Lipscomb coach Frank Bennett said. "They started out sharing the No. 3 position that year and really made great progress. Both have had a lot of injuries since then and had a lot of rehab. But both are great people and great leaders on this team.

"Penny came her from the University of Hawaii. Most of her opponents out-weigh her a good bit She has been pushed around a lot. She has been a good scorer this year. Her teammates like her. She is funny and fun to be around. She has been balancing basketball with nursing school."

Campbell shot a red-hot 67.9 percent from the field in the first half, hitting 19-of-28 from the field, but cooled down to 50.8 for the game hitting 32-of-63.

The Lady Bisons, who trailed 43-37 at the half, hit 50 percent from the field in the first half hitting 14-of-28 attempts, but found the basket only seven of 25 times in the second half to finish the game with a 38.9 percent success rate from the field.

"We haven't played real well this past week," Bennett said. "I don't know what it is. I hope we have a little fire left. Our defense had a lot of problems. Campbell shot very well.

"In the second half I thought we came out with a lot more intensity and fire. But we just couldn't convert on the offensive end."

Three Lady Bisons finished in double figures. Point guard Catie Woods led with 15 points, all on 3-pointers. Jones added 12 and forward Jilian Partin chipped in with 10.

Martin was the leading rebounder for the Lady Bisons with eight.

Five Campbell players scored in double figures. Marlena Murphy scored a game-high 17. Adrienne Rieley and Octavia Blackwell each had 14 points. Taylor Oliver and Gara Bell both chipped in 10 points.

Rieley recorded a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds. Campbell held a 41-30 advantage on the boards.

The Lady Bisons finish out the regular season on the road at North Florida and Jacksonville next week.

"They are both pretty tough at home," Bennett said. "We want to play well next week and be ready for the tournament."
