Saturday, October 16, 2010The Lipscomb Lady Bisons cross country teams continued its string of impressive performances this fall with an eighth place finish in the 56-team Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
The Lady Bisons competed against 28 ranked women’s teams, 17 ranked in NCAA Division 1. Five nationally-ranked NCAA D-1 teams toed the line against Lipscomb, including No. 24 Indiana, No. 25 Arkansas, No. 28 Oklahoma State, No. 35 Southern Methodist and No. 39 Oklahoma.
They finished ahead of Arkansas, Oklahoma and SMU.
A pair of freshmen led the way for the Lady Bisons in the field of 465 runners. Dani Walker finished 49th with a time of 17:52. Alex Newby was 50th with a time of 17:54.
Ashley Lehman finished 60th with a time of 18:05..
Shelby Marvel was 105th with a time of 18:25. Tessa Hoefle was 109th with a time of 18:26.
Louisa Van Batavia crossed the finish line in 120th place (18:38) and Cortney Thomas was 133rd (18:40).
At the Evansville Invite another team of Lady Bisons runners finished fourth out of 11 teams.
Miranda Klein led the way for the Lady Bisons with a 10th place finish in the 5-K with a time of 18:57.34.
Also in the top 25 were Alyssa Miller in 22nd (19:17.73) and Katie Bunker in 25th.
Missy Dowd finished 28th (19:32.01) followed by Anna Belnar (20:00.28) in 39th, Laura Stewart in 52nd (20:34.11), Reba Francisco in 74th (22:14.20) and Muriel Epling in 80th (22:31.73) in the field of 97 runners.
