NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb freshman Sally Larson has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Runner of the Week as announced by the league Wednesday morning.
Larson was the top Lady Bison at the Notre Dame Invite, arguably the top meet in the country last weekend, finishing 27th overall in a time of 17:41.10. The meet featured eight nationally-ranked schools and a field of 198 runners.
“Sally continues to set the tone for our team,” Bill Taylor, director of cross country and track and field, said. “She is fearless and has been so valuable.
“The course was about 45 seconds to one minute slower than last year, which means her 17:41 could easily have been in the 16s if the course had been hard and dry and the humidity was lower.”
This is the second weekly honor for Larson, having earned the inaugural 2013 season weekly award.
“She ran with some of the best DI athletes in the nation and showed she is ready for anything,” Taylor said.
Lipscomb returns to action on Oct. 19 at Pre-Nationals held in Terre Haute, Ind.
