Lipscomb women’s golf head coach Buddy Harston announced the signing of four new players on Wednesday.
Danielle Grace, Casey Edwards, Sami Khan, and Sarah McFarlin will become the newest members of the women’s golf program.
Harston expects the new signees to come in and contribute immediately. Lipscomb will lose four seniors, including Katie Pursell, who was the team’s top individual on the Lady Bisons ninth-place showing at the Atlantic Sun Championships in April.
Harston said Danielle Grace from St. Petersburg, Fla. is a top recruit who will come in and make a big difference.
“Danielle has a great golf swing and fundamentals,” Harston said. “Her high school team finished second in the state. She will play immediately and vie for the number one spot.”
Casey Edwards is another highly talented member of next year’s class. She is a native of Flower Mound, Texas and was named to the second team all-conference.
“Casey was the number two player and captain of her highly ranked high school team in Texas,” Harston said. “She has a great work ethic. As a sophomore she was the recipient of the ‘most improved’ award.”
Sami Khan is another golfer with high accolades who has inked her name to next year’s squad. Khan played at Visitation Academy in Saint Peters, Mo. and made first team all-conference in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
“Sami is an outstanding prospect who dealt with an injury between her junior and senior year,” Harston said. “She won the championship at the Rockwood Summit Invitational, shooting a 71.”
Harston has also added hometown golfer Sarah McFarlin from David Lipscomb High School. McFarlin was a multiple sport standout in high school.
“Sarah is a great athlete,” Harston said. “Besides being a good golfer, she played goalie on her high school’s soccer team and made the Second-Team All-Midstate. She is highly motivated and will be a good asset to our golf team.”
Next year’s golf team will be made up entirely of underclassmen. This class will join MacKenzy Carter, Sabrina Ferreri, and Catherine Musser who will each be sophomores next season.
