HONOLULU, Hi. – The Lipscomb women’s golf team closed out the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Wednesday with a total team score of 964 (316-319-329).
In a 15-team field peppered with top-50 teams in the nation, the Lady Bisons closed out the event in 14th.
Sami Khan finished as the top Lipscomb golfer in Hawaii with a 233 three-round total to place 36th in an 86-player field. Khan opened with 73-77 on Tuesday before coming back on Wednesday to fire an 83.
MacKenzy Carter shot 79-78-83 over the week. Her 240 total was good enough for 60th.
Finishing just one stroke behind Carter, Miriam Parker finished 65th. Parker shot rounds of 82-77-82 for a 241 tournament total.
Sabrina Ferreri and Sarah McFarlin posted a 257 and 267 to round out Lipscomb’s scores. Ferreri fired 82-87-88 over the two-day tournament. McFarlin shot 90-96 on Tuesday, but came back to shoot the team’s lowest final round total with an 81 on Wednesday.
Mississippi State, ranked No. 35 according to GolfWeek, took the tournament crown by a wide margin, 21 strokes with an 875 team total (+11).
Ines Lescuider of A-Sun foe Kennesaw State won the individual medalist after shooting even-par with rounds of 70-74-72 (216).
The Lady Bisons return to the links Mar. 24-25 to compete in the TSU Big Blue Invitational in Hermitage, Tenn.
