The Lipscomb Lady Bisons evened their road trip this weekend at 1-1 as they fell 2-1 Sunday afternoon to USC-Upstate in an Atlantic Sun soccer game.
Santana De Freitas scored the first goal of the game, taking a shot that went into the right corner of the net at 10:10 of the first half.
Sophomore forward Kate Spellman tied the game for the Lady Bisons at 1-1 at 16:24 of the first half. Spellman, with an assist from sophomore forward Halie Proffitt, drew Upstate's goalekeeper out high and then scored with a corner kick.
It was the fourth goal of the season for Spellman, a team, season and career high.
With approximately six minutes left Catherine Nolff scored what proved to be the game-winner.
The Lady Bisons are 3-8-1, 1-3 in the A-Sun. Upstate is 3-8-0, 1-3 in the conference.
