NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s soccer team travels to Jacksonville, Fla., for a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference games this weekend. The Lady Bisons face Jacksonville on Friday at 6 p.m. and North Florida on Sunday at noon.

Lipscomb tied a pair of contests last weekend, 3-3 with Stetson and 1-1 against Florida Gulf Coast, as the midpoint of the A-Sun season nears. The tie with FGCU was just the seventh non-win for the Eagles over the last four years in A-Sun action.

The Lady Bisons are 4-5-4 overall and 1-1-2 in the A-Sun as they travel to Jacksonville to face the 7-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 Dolphins.

JU is led by Kaitlyn Bassett with eight goals on a conference-best 50 shots. Bassett and the Dolphins were picked to finish second in the Preseason A-Sun Coach’s Poll. In the same poll, Ally Lee was chosen as the Defender of the Year. She has played in 10 of the 12 games and has one assist from the defensive line.

In the goal is Sarah Sierra who owns a 1.34 goals against average with 49 saves and 15 goals allowed. She has one shutout to her credit and played one half of another shutout.

North Florida enters the weekend 3-8-2 overall and 0-3-0 in the conference. Before playing the Lady Bisons on Sunday, UNF hosts Northern Kentucky on Friday.

Thea Linkfield is the Ospreys leader in goals with four, including one game winner. Alexis Bredeau is second on the team with three goals and one assist.

With three different goalkeepers seeing action, Megan Dorsey has started the last seven games. She owns a 1.64 goals against average and 41 saves while giving up 13 goals over eight games.

Lipscomb goalkeeper Anna Buhigas was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week after she secured 19 saves for the Lady Bisons. She ranks 21st in the nation with 72 saves.

If the Purple and Gold secures a victory this weekend, it would be the first time Lipscomb has won more than five games in a season and will give LU its best A-Sun record since at least 2008.

Both contests will be aired for free on ASun.TV.
