For the second game in a row the Lady Bisons soccer team went in at halftime with a lead, only to watch that advantage slip away late in the second half.
Tuesday night down the Boulevard at Belmont, the Lady Bisons played a solid first period. They spent most of the first 45 minutes in Belmont's end of the field. Defender Brittany Harp found net for the Lady Bisons at 22:57 off of an assist from midfielder Melissa Chambers.
It was the second goal of the season for Harp and the second assist of the season for Chambers. In her last two games Chambers has five points with two goals and one assist.
Corner kicks continued to be a problem for the Lady Bisons. Kassidy Brown tied the game at 81:40 off of a corner kick by midfielder Sarah Brandt.
Forward Kari Lennon scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 84:39 Lennon went high with her shot putting the ball in the center of the net. Brandt earned her second assist of the game on the play.
Belmont out-shot the Lady Bisons 14-9, but each team recorded seven shots on goal. Midfielder Jessica Jordan led the Lady Bisons with three shots, two on goal.
Bethany Copeland saved five shots in the net for the Lady Bisons. Micaela Crowley made six saves for Belmont.
Belmont made 13 corner kicks. The Lady Bisons did not have a corner kick.
It was the final Atlantic Sun Conference game for both teams. The Lady Bisons are 0-17-1, 0-10-0 in the conference. Belmont is 4-11-1, 3-6-1 in the A-Sun.
The Lady Bisons close out the season Friday night at 6 when UT-Martin visits Lipscomb. The senior members of the Lipscomb soccer team will be honored.
