The Lady Bisons soccer team has given up only two goals in their last two games, but that has been enough for the opposition.
Saturday afternoon the Lady Bisons lost a 1-0 decision to visiting Jacksonville in Atlantic Sun play. Seven minutes into the first half Jacksonville's Jenny Borschel scored the only goal of the game.
Lipscomb's Katie Shelton stopped 13 shots. Jacksonville finished the game with 19 shots, 14 shots on goal. The Lady Bisons managed seven shots, four on goal. Cally Warren made two shots on goal. Melissa Chambers and Laura Grubb each had one.
The Lady Bisons fell to 1-15, 0-7 in the A-Sun. Jacksonville is 9-6, 4-3 in the conference.
It was "Senior Day" for the Lady Bisons who closed out the home portion of their schedule. They play three more games on the road.
Playing their last games on the home field were Laurie Babcock, Chambers and Jennifer Jordan. All three were honored during a pregame ceremony.
Laurie is the daughter of Harriett and Scott Babcock. She is from Knoxville, Tenn. She has a brother, Charlie, and a sister, Ann. She is a three-year letter-winner for the Lady Bisons and a three-time Atlantic Sun All-Academic selection. She is majoring in Family Relations with a minor in Fashion Merchandising.
Melissa was escorted by her parents, Judy and Myron Chambers, and has a brother, Josh. She is from Franklin, Tenn. She is a four-year letter-winner and has served as co-captain this season. She was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic team in 2004 and 2005. She is majoring in English and minoring in Biology.
Jessica is from Marietta, Ga. She was joined by her parents, Nancy and Tom Jordan. She has a brother, Blair, and a sister, Madison. Known to her teammates as J.J., she is four-year letter-winner and a three-time Atlantic Sun All-Academic team member. She is also a co-captain this season. She is majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in English.
The Lady Bisons head to Georgia Friday to take on Kennesaw State at 6 p.m.
