Sunday, October 11, 2009The Lady Bisons need to move quickly to get Georgia off of their minds.
The Lady Bisons lost 6-1 Sunday afternoon at Mercer to close out the Georgia trip. They lost 7-0 Friday night at Kennesaw State prompting a late night team meeting.
One of the concerns was allowing teams to score early. Mercer scored two goals in the first 3:34 of the game with Olivia Tucker striking twice, once at 1:29 and the other at 3:34.
The Bears would add one more in the first half to take a 3-0 lead.
In the second half Meghan O’Rourke picked up a pair of goals at 77:26 and 81:40.
The Lady Bisons avoided the shutout when Danielle Bethke scored off a throw-in from Meghan McGuire at 82:31.
Bethke's shot on goal was the only one for the Lady Bisons and their only overall shot for the game.
Mercer attempted 18 shots.
Erin Zerio started in goal for the Lady Bisons and made one save while allowing three goals. Ally Marler played the second half. She was credited with four stops, but also gave up three goals.
The Lady Bisons are 3-11-0, 1-5-0 in the A-Sun. Mercer is 6-6-2, 2-4-1 in the conference.
This weekend the Lady Bisons are part of a busy schedule of games at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. They will face Stetson at 5 p.m. Friday night and Florida Gulf Coast at noon Sunday.
