MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun All-Conference and All-Freshman teams were announced, Thursday. Lipscomb freshman defender Brittany Rupple landed a spot on the all-freshman squad.
Rupple, from Dallas, Texas, started all 17 matches she appeared in this season and anchored the backline of the Lady Bisons defense. She logged 1,553 minutes during the season, the most of any Lady Bisons athlete, and played every minute of every match.
“We’re very excited for Brittany to receive this honor,” said Lipscomb head coach Jon Ireland. “She thoroughly deserves this award. She was our most consistent defender and one of the most technical players on our team.”
She led a Lady Bisons’ defense that allowed 35 goals, second-fewest in school history. On Oct. 2, her play helped shut out USC Upstate for the Lady Bisons first conference shutout since 2009.
Rupple is the first Lady Bisons freshman to earn conference honors since Katie Wood was named to the All-Freshman team in 2009.
“Other coaches (around the conference) took notice of her,” Ireland said. “It says a lot about her performance. She’s got room to improve, but she’s only going to get better.”
