NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Making its 2013 debut on ASun.TV, the Lipscomb women’s soccer team hosts Central Arkansas Friday at 7 p.m. at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
Last in action Monday night, Ellen Lundy tied the school record for goals scored in a season with six, as the Lady Bisons fell 2-1 to Austin Peay.
Lundy will look to score her seventh goal of the year to break her tie with Meghan McGuire, who set the record in 2011. With Lundy’s strong play in the early portion of the season, the awards have rolled in.
This past week she collected the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the A-Sun.
Lipscomb, 2-3-1 overall, leads the conference with 14 goals scored, averaging 2.33 per game. The Lady Bisons also rank third with nine assists, behind FGCU and Mercer.
Individually, Lundy is the league’s leader in goals, points (13), goals per game (1.0) and points per game (2.17). Juniors Brittany Rupple and Baylee Linnell both rank fourth in assists (2) and points (7), respectively.
Freshman goalkeeper Anna Buhigas leads the A-Sun with 33 saves, an average of 5.5 per game. She ranks second with a .846 save percentage.
Central Arkansas enters 2-2-1, having played to a tie on Sunday at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Adriana Lucar leads the Bears with seven points on three goals and one assist. She also leads the squad with 13 shots, having landed four on goal. Brooke Ballard and Alex Wurst are the only other two Bears with multiple goals, each scoring two.
Three goalkeepers have seen time between the posts; but Hayley Romero has had the most minutes with 270 played in four games. She has nine saves and a 0.67 goals against average.
Lipscomb is 2-5-0 all-time against Central Arkansas, including a 1-0 loss last season in Conway, Ark. The Lady Bisons picked up their last victory over the Bears against the Bears on Sept. 5, 2010, a 1-0 triumph.
