NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After taking a year off, the Battle of the Boulevard resumes Monday for the Lipscomb women’s soccer team. The Lady Bisons host Belmont at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
The rivalry is renewed as the two schools last met in the 2011 season, a 2-1 Lady Bisons victory at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
Lipscomb is 1-9-0 in the all-time series with Belmont.
The Lady Bisons (2-2-3) are coming off a 2-2 tie with Central Arkansas Friday night that saw forward Ellen Lundy set a new school record for goals scored and points in a season. The freshman connected on her seventh goal and 15th point.
Junior forward Baylee Linnell, who leads the team with 10 shots on goal, connected on her fourth goal of the season Friday.
Belmont (2-3-0) has scored six goals, all scored by six different Bruins. Katie Proud leads the squad with nine shots. Nicole Berner is the starting goalkeeper and has accumulated a 2.48 goals against average. She has stopped 26 shots and owns one shutout.
The Bruins are coming off a 3-0 loss to Evansville Friday night. In common opponents, Belmont played Alabama State, winning 3-0, the same margin the Lady Bisons won by on Aug. 26.
