Coach Kristin Lusk’s Lady Bisons got the road win they had been searching for on Sunday at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.
Starting out with a doubles point advantage, the Lady Bisons defeated Wofford 5-2.
Doubles winners for Lipscomb included Claire Landry and Raphaela Jann, who defeated Haley Baird and Sabrina Smyers in no. 2, 8-5.
Olivia Ellis and Elizabeth Keevil defeated Sonia Anand and Kristin Demosthenes in no. 3, 9-7.
Four Lady Bisons won singles. Raphaela Jann won in a tie breaker match at No. 1 against Cayley Wetzig, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4).
Kara Jackson defeated Sabrina Smyers 6-3, 6-0. Claire Landry defeated Kristin Demosthenes 6-1, 6-3.
Olivia Ellis defeated Betsy Hauer 6-1, 6-1.
“It was a good win for us, “ said Ellis. “I felt our team was mentally strong. Every court battled it out until the end. I was proud of the girls.”
The Lady Bisons came off a two-match loss this weekend against ETSU and USC Upstate, before gaining a win against Wofford.
“It took a lot of guts for the girls to go out after this weekend and pull out a win in a very close match,” said Lusk. “All credit lies with the girls. They went out to play and got the job done.”
The Lady Bisons will play IPFW in a non-conference match on Wednesday, March 11. The match will be played at Sewanee at 4 p.m.
