Saturday, March 20, 2010The Lady Bisons continue their struggle to find a win. The women’s tennis team returned from Florida to their home courts with hopes of earning a victory.
Unfortunately, the Lady Bisons continued their losing streak with a 7-0 loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, March 19.
The doubles point did not go in the Lady Bisons favor, leaving them at a 1-0 deficit early in the match.
Elizabeth Keevil and Mackenzie Bishop were defeated at the No. 1 spot by Sweeting and Evans 8-2.
The Lady Bisons picked up their solo win at No. 2 doubles. Kara Jackson and Danielle Hansen defeated Rendon and Almeida 8-7 (6) in a tight match coming down to the tiebreaker.
But sadly, Lipscomb fell at No. 3, awarding Florida Gulf Coast the doubles point and an early edge in the match. Julianne McMeen and Carlina Jow fell to Villemond and Sambrano 8-2.
Although the Lady Bisons hoped for better results in singles, they struggled to find a rhythm.
Bishop lost at No. 1, falling to Villemond in a close three set match 1-6, 6-4, 10-6, bringing the Lady Bisons’ disadvantage to 2-0.
Keevil was also defeated by Sweeting 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.
At No. 3, Hansen fell to Rendon 6-1, 6-2, awarding the Eagles with a 4-0 lead, allowing them to clinch the match.
The Lady Bisons did not have any more luck at the bottom of their line up, losing matches at the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions.
At No. 4, Jackson lost to Narzissenfeld 6-1, 6-4, while Jow was defeated at No. 5 6-2, 6-0 by Almeida.
At No. 6, McMeen fell to Bechtel 6-0, 6-0.
The loss brings Lipscomb’s conference record to 0-5 for the season.
