NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lipscomb's Jenny Borck had a perfect weekend for the Lady Bisons to secure Atlantic Sun Women's Tennis weekly accolades as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
“Jenny Borck is a solid competitor for us,” Lipscomb tennis coach Jamie Aid said. “She is able to use various shots and change up the ball, which gives her opponent difficulty.
“Jenny is one of those girls who will out smart other players. She is a great girl both on and off the court.”
Borck, a junior from Chula Vista, Calif., picked up a 6-2, 7-6 decision at the No. 4 singles position vs. UT Martin, while adding another win at the No. 4 singles spot against Belmont.
She teamed with Deahna Welcher as the No. 1 doubles team which also won both matches over the weekend.
“Jenny is one of our captains and is a great leader by example,” Aid said. “She and Deahna Welcher have made for a very family-oriented environment. We look forward to the continued rise in play this season.”
The Lady Bisons defeat of Belmont marked only the second time in 15 matches that Lipscomb came out on top against the local rival.
The Lady Bisons opened the season with a pair of wins, beating UT-Martin 4-3 and rival Belmont 6-1.
“The entire team has been very dedicated to the process in the off season,” Aid said. “We should see a good step up in play from all our girls but especially those who are juniors.”
The Lady Bisons play Friday at Tennessee-Chattanooga.
