Josh Smith was a driving force for the Lipscomb Baseball program from 2006-10, helping guide the program to its first Atlantic Sun Championship and NCAA Tournament Berth. The pitcher collected 18 wins over his 272 innings pitched. At the end of his career with the purple and gold, he ranked top-five in the Lipscomb NCAA record book for career strikeouts (288), games started (42), complete games (7), innings pitched (272) and won (18). He also ranked top-five in the NCAA single-season record book for innings pitched (104.1; 2010) and complete games (4; 2010) and held two of the top-five marks for single-season strikeouts (124; 2010 & 101; 2009). He was recognized as a 2010 First Team All-Conference member. At the end of his collegiate career, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 21st round (No. 637) of the 2010 MLB Draft. He also spent time with the Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, and Miami Marlins organizations.
