For nearly 40 years, Dr. Lynn Griffith served as an important part of Lipscomb Athletics as coach, administrator and educator. He earned his B.S. from Lipscomb in 1976 and began work for the Bisons in 1980 as tennis coach, a role he filled for 21 years. During that time, his teams compiled a match record of 365-270 and won four TCAC championships. Two of his teams earned berths in the NAIA National Tournament. He was named TCAC Coach of the Year five times and led the program through the transition from NAIA to NCAA. Lynn served as Bison Cross Country coach from 1994–1999, and each year he helped at least one runner earn a place in the NAIA Nationals. He was named 1997 TranSouth Conference Cross Country Coach of the Year and 2002 NCAA DI Independent Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year and in 2013 was inducted into the Cleveland State Hall of Fame.  Lynn has also served as assistant coach for baseball, assistant director of athletics, and as chair of the former Health and Physical Education Department. He was instrumental in planning and generating funding for the construction of the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center at Lipscomb.
