NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jamie Gilliam, has been promoted to assistant athletic director of communications and broadcasting effective immediately, as announced by Lipscomb University athletic director Philip Hutcheson.
“Jamie came here looking to make Lipscomb Athletics better and he’s done just that,” said Hutcheson. “As he has continued to contribute to our improvement on the operational level and he has also been willing to bring ideas that cross over into other areas of our department, this move is just a natural step in his professional progression.”
Having served as the director of athletic communications for the Bisons since 2012, Gilliam is responsible for the leadership, assignments and coverage of all 17 of Lipscomb’s NCAA Division I sports. He also oversees the production and distribution of over 40 annual ESPN3 productions that are produced on campus as well as the Lipscomb Radio Network.
“His experience, knowledge and commitment to improvement make him a great choice to run point on the writing and broadcast side of our department,” said Hutcheson. “ He’s also stayed ahead of social media and other emerging forms of communications. Those abilities, along with his continually scanning the sports landscape for ways ideas others are using and then thinking about how we can adapt them to our program, have helped us advance in marketing, development and other areas within our department."
Gilliam also leads the direction for Lipscombsports.com, the departmental weekly email distribution and helps navigate the ever changing social media landscape for the department.
“I’m thankful he’s a part of our team and I’m looking forward to him continuing to help Lipscomb Athletics do a better job of telling our stories and connecting with the communities around us,” said Hutcheson.
