LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lipscomb University’s volleyball team was awarded the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2015-2016 season.
Lipscomb was one of 132 NCAA Division I women’s teams honored.
The award, which was started in 1992-93, honors collegiate and high school teams that “displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year”, by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average.
Lipscomb’s volleyball team compiled a 3.50.
“I am extremely excited for the recognition of the AVCA to our team,” Lipscomb volleyball coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “We continue to push excellence in all aspects of this program and I am continually impressed by the effort and results that our girls have received in the classroom.
“I often say that I don't think our girls get enough credit for what they do in the classroom, as this was another exceptional year and one where they maintained a team GPA of 3.5. Congrats to our girls and our staff for making it happen in the classroom and on the court.”
