NASHVILLE – Lipscomb Athletics and Director of Spiritual Formation Chris Klotz are excited to release this year’s 555 Prayer Cards.
Five years ago Spiritual Formation initiated a prayer campaign asking for people to pray for Lipscomb student-athletes. They came up with an idea of a prayer card that could be given out to each individual who wanted to participate.
On the cards are five student-athletes from within the department. You are asked to pray for those athletes five minutes a day, five days a week for the entire school year, thus creating the name – 555 Prayer Cards.
“These prayer cards have been one of my favorite things God has allowed us to be a part of,” Klotz said. “Engaging our campus community to participate in the Kingdom of God by covering each student-athlete in intentional prayer has allowed us to see God at work.
“It has been so humbling and exciting to see how God has moved in the lives of these athletes and we are confident it’s because the Lord is faithful and hears the prayers of His people.”
A new addition was added to the cards this year, as Klotz and Director of Women’s Spiritual Formation Shannon O’Brien decided to include not only the names of each athlete, but also a picture.
Spiritual Formation is providing Lipscomb’s campus with an opportunity to engage and partner with student-athletes.
“Each time a student-athlete is getting baptized, their prayer card holder shows up to introduce themselves and it is so fun being reminded that it’s not just one person, or one situation that God uses to change lives, but there is a much greater picture that God is weaving together,” Klotz said.
Klotz and Lipscomb Athletics are excited to see what God has in store.
