NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb softball team and head coach Kristin Ryman have announced the signing of two student-athletes to the 2021 class.
"This will be one of our smallest classes we've had in a long time, but even though it's small we feel like both have a chance to come in and find a way to be impactful in their own way," Ryman said. "I think they'll be big for us.
"We like our team's speed, so we really wanted to go after a little bit more power in this class. We feel like we're solving that with Tori and Avery."

Tori Womack | 1B | Aldie, Virginia | Rock Ridge High School | Stars National Gold
"The thing that immediately stands out about Tori is her power. She's got the size and the strength to hit it out of the park at any moment. I think we need the extra power punch, and I think Tory's going to be able to provide that. We will graduate Jenna Endris this year, and she was really the only true first baseman that we've had on our roster for a while. We've moved some other kids over there at times and still have had depth, but some of those have been other positions. Tory is just a true first baseman. She's going to bring a lot of size and power.. She's just a fun hitter to watch. She plays on a very competitive travel team that's going to compete nationally at the highest level, which is exciting. She's going to come in and be well prepared from the standpoint of having seen a lot of really great pitching and having been challenged at that level and is going to have an idea of what it takes to win. I think the girls are really going to mesh with her well in terms with what she brings from a team perspective."

Avery Cox | C/1B/3B | Puryear, Tennessee || Henry County High School | Illinois Force
"Avery has been one of those players that has been coming to camps for several years now, has kind of had her sights on Lipscomb for a long time, and has grown up Church of Christ, so the school as a whole is just a great fit for her. We have had a chance to watch Avery a good amount over the years and really like how she plays the game. She plays hard. She's all business when she's practicing and playing, but she's also a good teammate and somebody that is going to really compete and get after it both offensively and defensively. I think she will bring some versatility defensively at catcher as well as some durability. She has a strong arm and a good presence back there. She's going to bring that versatility to really be able to play either corner and give us some innings behind the plate. Offensively, she's another one of those hitters that I think is going to be able to provide a little bit of a power punch. I think Avery's just such a great fit all the way around. It was kind of a no-brainer to try to find a way to get her. Avery's also playing a high level of travel ball and competing in a lot of the best tournaments out there."
