NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb track and field squad has announced the addition of Jake Alexander to its coaching staff on Thursday.
Alexander will be taking on the role of assistant track and field coach for jumps, springs, and relays.
"We are excited to have Jake joining our program," Lipscomb Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Nick Polk said. "Jake will be able to increase the competitiveness and depth of our sprints groups. He will be a great leader for our student-athletes on and off the track and strive to make them better in every way."
Alexander joins the Bisons after a six-year stint at John Carroll University, where he worked with both the track and field and cross country squads. During the 2018-19 season, he was promoted to associate head men's and women's track and field coach.
While with the Blue Streaks, Alexander was named the USTFCCA's Men's Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year for the Great Lakes Region for his efforts during the 2018 season.
Alongside his duties as the sprints, hurdles, and relays coach at JCU, Alexander was also the head recruiting coordinator for track and field and cross country.
During his time on the track, Alexander was a five-time All-GLIAC performer at Grand Valley State while competing in both sprints and relays. He served as team captain during his senior year and completed a degree in history.
After the end of his career on the track, Alexander joined the staff at GVSU as a volunteer assistant.
