NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Bisons brought their momentum with them to the Lipscomb Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon as they welcomed the Bellarmine Knights to Nashville. Lipscomb's squad went to battle with the Knights in a tough match and emerged victorious with a 3-0 shutout to add to their record.

The Purple and Gold were firing on all cylinders as the offense created incredible chances for a total of 27 shots while the defense held Bellarmine to just five shots in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The match began with a lengthy period of back and forth play in the midfield. However, as the two teams felt each other out, the Bisons quickly found their feet and following three shots in just under a minute from three of her teammates, Angela Steidl put one on target at the seven-minute mark.

Kale'a Perry and Alivia Carapazza kept up the offensive pressure after Steidl's attempt and put two more shots on goal before the Knights managed to bring play back into Lipscomb's end of the pitch and log their first shot of the match.

Roughly 28 minutes into play, Perry drew a foul in the box while Kelli Beiler took a shot that led to a penalty kick for the Bisons. Beiler stepped up to the line and buried her shot in the bottom left corner of the net for the first goal of the match.

Lipscomb's squad fed off of the momentum and five minutes later, Shelby Craft interrupted a feed from Bellarmine's keeper and got the ball to Perry, who sent off a laser to the far side of the goal with her left foot. After a set of substitutions for Lipscomb, Evee Reeder and Noa Ganthier both recorded shots on goal in the final minutes of the first half.

Hungry for another goal, Perry returned from the break with a shot a minute and a half into play. The Knights pushed back with a pair of shots of their own that Lipscomb responded to with six more shots, four of which came from Perry.
The incredible defense from Logan McFadden and Katia Hanger spread up the field as senior Emily Patti came streaking up the sideline to intercept a Bellarmine pass. She quickly fed the ball to Beiler at the top of the box who pulled around the Knights' defense and logged her second goal of the match with a right-footer that lofted over Bellarmine's keeper into the top right of the net.

Lipscomb's defense continued to hold off the Knights with the direction of sophomore goalkeeper CJ Graham at their backs. The Bisons put up four shots in two minutes including a driving shot from junior Marcella Cash.

Graham handily collected Bellarmine's final shot on goal and stood tall for Lipscomb between the pipes as the Knights took a shot that sailed wide right. Cash and junior Tori Wheeler put up two more shots for Lipscomb in the final minutes of play to seal the Bisons' fifth consecutive conference victory.

HEAD COACH KEVIN O'BRIEN:
"It was a great, great performance today from start to finish. I thought we came out strong – really organized, disciplined, and were a hardworking team under pressure. We could create a lot of chances and I thought we scored some great goals today.

For me, Sunday matches are always tough. They're always a grind. They're always harder than when you're playing Thursday night under the lights, but I thought this was one of our better Sunday performances from start to finish.

I thought the passing at times was really good. Our chance creation, again, really good. It's promising that we're scoring some goals and keeping teams out of ours, which was a problem a little bit in the early days of the season. But now we've got a little run of shutouts going and I'm just proud of the way we're digging in defensively and have committed to team defending.

It's been really, really promising and as we look forward to the next two weeks we get the four Florida schools, which are all super talented, and we're going to have to put in some great performances to continue to be where we want to be."

UP NEXT:
The Bisons return to the Lipscomb Soccer Complex on Thursday, Oct. 6 to take on the North Florida Ospreys in their Kick for a Cure game. The match will kick off at 6 p.m. CT.
