Women’s Tennis Splits Results On Conference Road Trip

LOUISVILLE, Ky./LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lipscomb's women's tennis team embarked on their first conference road trip weekend of the season to face the Bellarmine Knights and the Liberty Flames. The Bisons brought home a 4-3 win over the Knights on Friday before falling 1-6 to the Flames on Sunday.

In the Bisons' Friday match, the Knights took the first point of the match when they won the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. Sasha Dobranos and Kate Popova occupied the top line for the Bisons and notched a doubles victory with a 6-2 triumph over their Bellarmine foes.
 
The squad fought back in singles play to earn their victory. Kate Popova earned a two-set victory at the No. 2 position (6-3, 6-3), while Emma Zakordoniec earned a 6-2, 7-6 win on court three.
 
Maddox Bandy brought home the Bisons' third point on court five where she went 6-2, 6-1 over her Knights opponent. The fourth point of the match came from court six as Eleanor Chapman went 6-1, 6-1 to secure Lipscomb's win.

The Bisons next traveled to Lynchburg, Va. on Sunday to face off with Liberty. The Flames took the first point of the match with a 2-6 loss for Sasha Dobranos and Kate Popova on court one and a 2-6 loss for Eleanor Chapman and Perri Howard on court three.
 
Kate Popova earned the Bisons' lone point of the match on court two where she took down her Flames adversary in two sets (6-4, 6-2).
 
Two Bisons took their matches to three sets before falling to their opponents. At the No. 5 position, Liza Diachenko took the first set of her match before falling in the last two (6-4, 2-6, 3-6). On court six, Maddox Bandy won her first set and was within two points of her opponent before losing by retirement (6-2, 0-6, 3-5, WR).

The Bisons will return to the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center on Lipscomb's campus to face off with the Stetson Hatters on Friday, April 1 at 10:00am CST.
