Bisons Bring Home 3-0 Win Over Queens

Final Score: Lipscomb 3, Queens 0
Location: Nashville, Tenn. (Lipscomb Soccer Complex)
Records: Lipscomb (12-4-1), Queens (4-5-6)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's soccer earned their eighth ASUN victory Thursday night over the Queens Royals in a 3-0 shutout victory. The Bisons saw back-to-back goals in the first half from Logan McFadden and Kelli Beiler, followed by a brilliant assurance goal from Lydia Hindt in the second half to celebrate the first match of the squad's Senior Weekend in style.

HOW IT HAPPENED
True to form, the Bisons jumped at the first whistle to make a quick push into Queens' defensive end and Evee Reeder opened the match's offensive efforts just under two minutes into play with a shot that went wide left. Lipscomb's offense drove the match, forcing a corner kick five minutes into the match and corralling the redirected kick right back into Queens' defensive end.

The Royals drew a free kick just over seven minutes into play and the shot from their free kick from 40-yards out was summarily turned away by the Bisons' defense. Marcella Cash made a big push to bring offensive control of the match firmly back into Lipscomb's grasp as she logged three dangerous shots on target in three minutes.

Katia Hanger was the next Bison to step up to the plate, ripping a shot from inside the 18-yard box that was snatched out of the air by the Royals' keeper. Queens took the opportunity to bring play back into Lipscomb's end of the pitch and took another shot that flew wide of the target.

The Bisons were quick to drive the action back down the field and the Bisons soon drew a free kick deep in the Royals' territory. Kelli Beiler took the free kick and sent in a rocket of a shot that banged off the right post and was brought down by Kiara Pralle. Pralle settled it forward to Logan McFadden, who got her left foot on it and sent it under the diving hands of Queens' keeper to put the Bisons on the board just ahead of the 19-minute mark.

The Bisons were back on the attack just a minute later as Lydia Hindt stepped in to steal the ball from one of Queens' forwards and sent a long ball up the field to Beiler for a breakaway chance. The Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa. native settled the serve with a one touch and found the back of the net once more in the lower left corner under the hands of the Royals' netminder. The goal stands as the 34th of her career, tying her for the Lipscomb Women's Soccer program record for goals in a career, set by Ellen Lundy in 2017.

Lipscomb's offense continued to drive the match with six unanswered shots in the remainder of the first half.

Play resumed at a less frantic pace after the break with the Bisons' defense establishing their prowess with a series of keep away passes in the start of the second, slowly working their way towards the top of their defensive end.

The Royals finally earned a chance to put a shot on goal in the 52nd minute of action and netminder Sydney Jones stepped in to handily collect the shot and record her first save of the match. Emanuela Schurch returned the favor just a minute later, ripping a shot on target from the top of the key that forced a diving save from Queens' keeper.

The Bisons' constant pressure paid off just after the 58th minute as Paige Archbold drove the ball up the right side of the pitch and sent a cross swinging over to Schurch on the left. Schurch dropped the ball back to Lydia Hindt 30 yards back and she delivered a laser of a shot to the top right corner of the net and took the Bisons to a 3-0 lead in the match with just over 30 minutes left on the clock.

Just over a minute later, the Royals were looking for a chance to equalize and took a dangerous free kick 25 yards out from Lipscomb's goal that Jones punched away for her second save of the night.

Lipscomb's squad was quick to wrestle control back into their grasp, with big shots from Cash, Pralle, and Alivia Carapazza all looking for the Bisons' fourth goal of the night. Chloe Brown logged a dangerous chance for the purple and gold from just outside the key in the 77th minute that forced yet another save from the Royals' keeper.

The Bisons continued to fight for another goal in the contest and Haley Williams put up two big shots for the squad, but the Royals' defense stood tall and the Bisons 3-0 lead held through the final whistle.
