
Women's Golf Finishes Eighth at Edisto Island Invitational

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. – Lipscomb Women's Golf finished eighth in a field of 16 at the Edisto Island Invitational on Tuesday. The Bisons shot a 298, 293, 291 for a (+42) on the event. Once again, Lauren Thompson led the way for the Bisons with a 12th place finish at (+6).
Thompson, who is having a stellar fall season, was atop the Lipscomb board. In the first round of play, she carded a 74 but improved with a 71 in each of the second and third rounds. Thompson led the field in Par 4 scoring (3.93, -2). Mary Kate Smith also turned in a top-25 performance for the Bisons when she tied for 24th-place. Smith had a solid first round with a 71, but struggled with a 78 in her second round of the tournament. Smith, however, buckled down with the best score of the event for the Bisons with a 70 in the final round, finishing at (+9).
Freshman Zi Yu Foong was steady for the Bisons all three rounds with a 74 in the first two rounds and a 75 in the final round for a (+13) and tied for a 40th-place finish. Ally Williams and Danica Badura rounded out Lipscomb's team scoring. Williams tied for 62nd (79, 82, 75) (+21) while Badura tied for 80th (79, 82, 75) (+26).
As an individual, Katya Tibbetts had three solid rounds, carding a 74, 72, 72 for a (+8) on the tournament, good for a 19th-place finish. Tibbetts finished at the top of the field in Par 3 scoring (2.08, -3).
