McElhaney Named ASUN Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb women's track & field's Aislinn McElhaney was named the ASUN Women's Field Athlete of the Week following a record-breaking performance in the women's long jump competition at the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University, over the weekend. This honor marks the first weekly title of McElhaney's career.
 
The sophomore broke her own indoor women's long jump program record with a distance of 6.03 meters at the Music City Challenge over the weekend, earning her a 2nd-place finish overall in the events. This was the 3rd time this season that McElhaney broke the long jump record and was .04 meters further than her previous record.
 
The Sevierville, Tenn. product ranks 2nd in the ASUN so far this season with her mark of 6.03 meters. McElhaney also competed in the 4x400m relay for the Bisons, teaming up with Abigail Alvarado, Kaira Carter, and Kennedy Miller to finish 18th (3:54.24) in the event.
 
The Bisons will have this weekend off before opening up the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 24 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
