THE SHORT STORY
California Baptist used a two-run bottom of the fourth inning to even the score and plated a final run in the bottom of the fifth inning to clinch the 3-2 non-conference win over the Bisons on Day 2 of the Georgia Classic in Athens, Georgia.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as
Presley Leebrick hit her third triple of the season, which is tied for the most in the NCAA Division I so far this season, to score
Elise Shewmaker and give Lipscomb the early lead.
After a scoreless second and third inning,
Joie Giarrizzo hit into a fielder's choice in the top of the fourth inning to score
Meghan Kline from third base to push the lead to two runs.
CBU responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and scored a final run in the bottom of the fifth to clinch the non-conference win.
Emily Yakubowski was credited with the loss in the circle, surrendering three earned runs on three hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Laine Barefoot gave up only two hits in 1.1 innings of relief.
CBU's Presley Hosick earned the victory in the circle, giving up only one walk in 3.2 innings of relief. Morgan McConnell gave up two earned runs on two hits in 3.1 innings of work.

THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb tallied three runs in the top of the third and four runs in the top of the fifth inning, coupled with a strong performance in the circle by
Kate Peters, gave the Bisons a 7-1 victory over Hofstra to close out the second day of the Georgia Classic with a win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning, Lipscomb opened up the scoring as
Josey Polk reached on a throwing error that also plated both
Katelyn Belding and
Kelly Paulson to give the Bisons a 2-0 lead. Giarrizzo extended the lead to 3-0 on an RBI groundout that scored Polk from third base.
Hofstra chipped away at the lead in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Bisons responded with a four-run top of the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Polk started the rally by reaching on a fielder's choice that scored Leebrick from third base. Belding then scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 5-1. Giarrizzo singled in the next at-bat to score Polk from second base and
Maci Cunconan doubled to right-center field to score
Kyndall Crawford and extend the lead to 7-1.
Peters held the Pride in check for the final three at-bats, including tallying her fifth strikeout of the night in the bottom of the sixth.
Peters earned her first win of the season in the circle in game two, allowing only one earned run on two hits in six innings of work.
Macey Ogle allowed only one hit in one inning of relief.
Hofstra's Haley Venturini was credited with the loss in the circle, surrendering three earned runs on six hits in 4.1 innings of work. Emma Brennan gave up only one earned run on two hits in 2.2 innings of relief.
Cunconan and Giarrizzo finished with four hits and three RBIs to lead the Bisons in the later game, while Belding, Paulson,
Kamrie Rich, and Leebrick all registered hits in the win.

Lipscomb will close out the Georgia Classic on Sunday as they battle No. 17 Georgia at 12 p.m. CT at the Turner Softball Stadium.
