Bisons Fail to Find Stride In Weekend Matches

MACON, Ga. / TROY, Ala. – Lipscomb women's tennis took a road trip to Georgia and Alabama this weekend to face off with the Mercer Bears and the Troy Trojans. The Bisons fell 6-1 to the Bears on Saturday before a grating 4-0 loss to Troy on Sunday.
 
Saturday's match began with a 6-1 win from Sasha Dobranos and Anja Trbeznik on court one; however, the Bears brought home the wins on courts two and three to claim the doubles point and open the scoring.
 
The Bears pressed the pedal to the metal in singles play and the claimed the points on courts two through five in straight sets. Dobranos brought home the Bisons' lone point of the morning in a three-set battle with her opponent, claiming a 6-3, 2-6, 10-3 win for her seventh victory of the season.
 
After traveling to Troy, Ala. for their Sunday matchup, the Bisons dropped the doubles point to the Trojans in a 6-1 loss on court two for Sofiia Paladi and Alina Cherniaieva and a 6-3 loss for Liza Diachenko and Perri Howard on court three.
 
The Trojans pressed their advantage in singles play with an early point on court three when Anja Trbeznik retired in the second set after falling 6-1 in the first. The Trojans then earned straight set wins on court six over Perri Howard (6-1, 6-1) and on court one over Sasha Dobranos (6-4, 6-1).
 
With the early four points in the match going to Troy, the two squads called the battle there and the Trojans took home the dub.

Lipscomb women's tennis will take to the road once again Friday, March 3 to face the Samford Bulldogs. First serve will take place at 1:30pm CST.
