
Softball Falls Against Akron and Indiana to Open Lady Bison Classic

THE SHORT STORY
After Lipscomb used a two-run homerun by Kamrie Rich in the bottom of the first to take the early lead, Akron plated a run in the top of the fifth and another three runs in the top of the fifth to clinch the 5-2 non-conference win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Akron opened the scoring in the early game by scoring a run on two hits in the top of the first. Lipscomb responded in the bottom of the inning with a two-out two-run homerun by Kamrie Rich to deep center field, which scored Elise Shewmaker, to give the Bisons the early lead.

The Zips evened the score in the top of the fourth with a single run on four hits and pushed the lead to 5-2 in the top of the fifth with three runs on three hits.
The Bisons threatened in the bottom of the seventh with a lead-off single by Maci Cunconan, but Akron was able to obtain the final three outs to clinch the non-conference win.
Emily Yakubowski was credited with the loss in the circle for Lipscomb, allowing only two earned runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings of work. Laine Barefoot did not allow a single hit in 2.1 innings of relief.
Akron's Haley Croyle allowed only two earned runs on seven hits to earn the victory for the Zips.
Rich went 2 for 3 from the dish with two RBIs and a run scored to pace the Bisons, while Presley Leebrick and Cunconan also recorded hits for Lipscomb.

After a two-run bottom of the first inning for Lipscomb, fueled by a two-run blast by Leebrick, Indiana scored nine runs and only allowed one final run by the Bisons to clinch the non-conference win in the final game of Day 1 of the Lady Bisons Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Indiana opened the scoring in the top of the first with a pair of first-inning homeruns to give the Hoosiers the early lead.
Leebrick responded in the bottom of the frame by hitting a two-run homerun over the right-field fence, which scored Shewmaker, to even the score at 2-2.

After a scoreless second inning, Indiana plated three runs on three hits in the top of the third and six runs on only four hits in the top of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 11-2.
The Bisons cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning as Tori Womack doubled down the right-field line to score Josey Polk from first base to give Lipscomb their third run of the game.

Indiana was able to earn the final out to clinch the non-conference win.
Macey Ogle was credited with the loss in the circle for Lipscomb, allowing four earned runs on five hits in 2.1 innings of work. Barefoot and Brinkley Kita combined to allow six earned runs on four hits in 2.2 innings of relief.
Indiana's Heather Johnson allowed only one earned run on two in to earn the victory in the circle for the Hoosiers, while Macy Montgomery allowed two runs on three hits after pitching the first two innings of the contest.
Polk went 2 for 2 with a run scored to pace the Bisons in the later game, while Shewmaker, Leebrick, and Womack also registered hits.
