THE SHORT STORY
After Lipscomb opened the scoring in the top of the third inning, Chattanooga responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame and held the Bisons scoreless in their final four at-bats to clinch the non-conference win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After two scoreless innings to open up the contest, the Bisons opened the scoring as Belfield left off with a single and advanced to third base on a passed ball. Leebrick took a 1-2 pitch through the right side to score Belfield to give Lipscomb the early lead.
Chattanooga responded with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning to recapture the lead.
Lipscomb threatened in the top of the sixth inning as Leebrick and Kamrie Rich drew walks to put two runners on, but the Mocs were able to obtain the final out and hold the Bisons scoreless in the top of the seventh to clinch the non-conference win.
Brinkley Kita was credited with the loss in the circle, allowing two earned runs on six hits in 5.0 innings of work, while Emily Yakubowski gave up only one hit in 1.0 innings of relief.
Chattanooga's Peja Goold picked up the win in the circle, allowing only one earned run on five hits in 5.0 innings of work, while Taylor Long earned the save by not allowing a hit in 2.0 innings of relief.
Leebrick paced the Bisons from the dish, going 2 for 2 with an RBI, while Belfield, Presley Rader, and Josey Polk also collected hits in the loss.
