THE SHORT STORY
After a scoreless first seven innings forced extra innings, Queens tallied two runs in the top of the 10th inning and held the Bisons to only one run in the bottom of the 10th to clinch the first game of the three-game series on Draper Diamond.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both Lipscomb's
Emily Yakubowski and Queen's Autumn Courtney were locked in a pitcher's duel for the first seven innings of the game with a combined 10 hits given up in the frame (six for Queen's and four for the Bisons).
The Royals nearly broke through in the top of the seventh inning with two runners in scoring position, but Yakubowski tallied two of her career-high 11 strikeouts to keep the score level at 0-0.
Neither team was able to push across the first run of the contest in the 8th and 9th innings to force a 10th and final inning.
Queens opened the scoring with two runs on two fielding errors to take a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the frame.
Jack Busch singled to left field to score
Elise Shewmaker with no outs in the bottom of the 10th to cut into the deficit.
The Royals were able to obtain the final three outs to clinch the conference win.
Yakubowski did not allow an earned run on six hits in 10.0 innings of work, while also tallying a career-high 11 strikeouts.
Queens' Courtney did not allow an earned run on six hits in 10.0 innings of work to earn the victory in the circle.
Kamrie Rich went 2 for 3 from the plate to pace the Bisons in the early game, while
Kaylyn Belfield, Busch,
Josey Polk, and Tori Womach all collected hits in the loss.

THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning of the second game and, after allowing a run by Queens in the third, scored the game-winning run on an RBI single by
Katelyn Belding in the sixth inning to clinch the split in the ASUN doubleheader.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning of play, Lipscomb opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning as Polk scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the second inning to give the Bisons the early lead.
Queens responded in the top of the next half-inning with a single run on two hits to even the score at 1-1.
Belding finally broke the deadlock in the bottom of the sixth inning as she singled down the left-field line with two outs to score
Briyana Wright, who pitch ran for Rich who singled to lead off the inning and gave the Bisons the lead.
Lipscomb was able to obtain the final three outs to clinch the ASUN victory.
Brinkley Kita picked up the victory in the circle for Lipscomb, allowing only one earned run on three hits in 7.0 innings of work.
Queens' Abby Craver was credited with the loss in the circle, giving up only one earned run on three hits in 6.0 innings of work.
Belding, Rich, and Belfield collected all three hits for the Bisons in the win, while Belding tallied the game-winning RBI.
