Women’s Tennis Drops 6-1 Loss to Central Arkansas Ahead of ASUN Tournament

CONWAY, Ark. – Lipscomb women's tennis concluded their regular season play with a conference matchup against the Central Arkansas Bears Saturday morning. The Bisons balked against the Bears in a 6-1 defeat.
 
The Bisons stumbled out of the gate as they dropped the doubles point on courts one and three, falling 3-6 and 2-6 respectively. Sofiia Paladi and Alina Cherniaieva were down 3-5 on court two at the time the point was decided and their match went unfinished.
 
The Bisons sought to strike back in singles play, splitting the first sets with the Bears three each to put the squad back on the map. Central Arkansas pushed their advantage with a two-set win on court six over Taisia Yakunina (6-2, 6-2) and another straight set win at No. 4 over Anja Trbeznik to put the Bears in clinching position (6-4, 7-5).
 
Central Arkansas' squad clinched the match with their win on court two over Sofiia Paladi, going 6-4, 6-2 to secure the match. The Bears furthered their lead to five with a win at the No. 3 spot over Liza Diachenko at 4-6, 6-2, 1-0(10-6).
 
Sasha Dobranos brought home a win for the Bisons at the top spot after a three-set battle with her opponent as she claimed a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win to mark her 14th singles victory of the season. Alinca Cherniaieva and her opponent on court five concluded the match with another three-set contest that ended 2-6, 6-3, 1-0(14-12) in the Bears' favor.
