THE SHORT STORY
Central Arkansas used a pair of four-run innings and 13 total hits, including a pair of grand slams, to clinch the victory in the opening game of the three-game series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with four runs on five hits to take the early lead.
Lipscomb responded in the top of the second inning as
Meghan Kline singled with two outs to give the Bisons a base runner.
Kyndall Crawford singled to left field, in the next at-bat, to move Kline to third, but a fielding error by Central Arkansas scored Kline from first to put Lipscomb on the board.
The Bears used two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to grab momentum back, scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and closed out their scoring with a four-run bottom of the fifth inning to clinch the win.
Emily Yakubowski was credited with the loss in the circle for the Bisons, allowing six earned runs on seven hits in 2.0 innings of work, while
Macey Ogle surrendered six runs on six hits in 2.1 innings of relief.
Central Arkansas' Jordan Johnson allowed only five hits in 5.0 to pick up the win in the circle.
Crawford and
Presley Leebrick combined for 4 of the 5 total hits for the Bisons, while Kline collected a hit and a run scored.
