WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Lipscomb Women's Golf battled through adversity and finished fifth in a field of 14 teams at the Advanced Partners Collegiate in West Palm Beach, Fla. this week. Though a majority of the squad came down with the flu during the tournament and battled winds upwards of 25 MPH, the Bisons pushed through and finished in the top half of the field.
Zi Yu Foong led the way for the Bisons with a top-10 finish, tying for ninth place in the field. She posted a 75 in each of her first two rounds before turning in a 74 in the final round for a (+8) on the event. Foong was top-10 in the field with 38 pars to bolster three birdies and an eagle.
Lauren Thompson and
Danica Badura posted top-15 finished with a 12
th place and 15
th place finish, respectively. Thompson had the best round of the tournament for the Bisons with a 72 in the first round, but slowed with a 75 and 78 in the second and third rounds. All told, she finished (+9) on the tournament. Thompson finished top-10 in the field with 38 pars and added five birdies and an eagle. Badura finished (+11), carding a 74, 76, 77 on the event with 34 pars and five birdies.
Ally Williams rounded out the team scoring for the Bisons. Williams tied for 50
th, starting slow with an 84 in the first round, but picked up her pace, turning in a 79 and 77 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Mary Kate Smith turned in an 80 and a 79 in the first and second rounds, but was forced to withdraw after the fourth hole in the final round due to sickness.
Tzunami Polito competed as an individual and finished tied for 46
th in the field with an 80 in the first and third rounds and a 77 in the second round for a (+21) on the week.
