Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Yellow Jacket Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb track & field opened their 2024 outdoor season on Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech. The Bisons put up 24 top-10 finishes with eight podium appearances and four first-place finishes from the squad.
 
Nathan Wallace brought home one of the Bisons' first place finishes with a personal best time of 55.05 in the men's 400m hurdles. Mollie Longmire collected another first-place finish in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with an 11:07.12.
 
Brady Johnson clocked the next first place finish for the Bisons with a 1:50.45 in the men's 800m event. Bryan Hernandez-Rios claimed the Bisons' final first place finish in the men's 1,500m with his personal best time of 3:47.50.
 
The men's squad continued to shine as AJ Goecker and Nick Regas combined for a pair of top-three finishes in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. Goecker claimed second place with a personal best time of 9:08.80 while Regas clocked a 9:13.08 to finish third overall.
 
Ellie Brewer clocked a personal best time of 2:12.74 in the women's 800m to finish third overall while Abigail Alvarado logged a time of 2:12.91 to finish fifth overall in the same event.
 
The Bisons' final podium appearance came in the men's 4x400m relay as the team of Aveion Hayes, Joe Kennedy, Saxon Brown, and Braeden Ofosu-Kwarteng combined for a time of 3:17.28.

The Bisons will be back in action at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State over Thursday, Mar. 28th-Saturday, Mar. 30th.
