SEDONA, Ariz. – Lipscomb Women's Golf finished tied for fourth overall in a field of 20 teams at the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday.
Lauren Thompson highlighted the event for the Bisons as she tied for fourth place overall. Zi Yu Foong and
Katya Tibbetts also came away with top-25 finishes in a large field of over 100 competitors.
Thompson had another impressive outing, continuing her red-hot junior campaign. She tied for fourth in the field as one of only seven competitors that finished even to par or better. Thompson shot a 72 in the first day, finishing even, before carding a 71 in the second round. She rounded out her tournament with a 73 to finish with an even 215 on the tournament.
Freshman Zi Yu Foong also finished in the top-20 of the field, tying for 18
th-place. Foong opened with a strong 71 and sat tied for third after the first round of play. She cooled a bit with a 75 and 74 in the second and third rounds, respectively. All told, she had a 220 (+4) on the weekend for a strong finish.
Another strong freshman performance came from
Katya Tibbetts who tied for 24
th in the field. She shot a 75 in both the first and third rounds and had her strongest round with a 72 in the second round for a (+6) overall.
Mary Kate Smith and
Danica Badura rounded out the team scoring for the Bisons. Smith got off to a slow start, carding a 79 in the first round, but improved with a 74 in the second round. She finished with a 76 in round three for a (+13). Badura finished (+15) on the tournament, shooting a 76, 79, 76.
The Bisons had two individuals competing in
Tzunami Polito and
Caroline King. Polito tied for 44
th (76, 75, 75, +10) while King finished 112
th (83, 90, 91, +38).
