CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb softball took a midweek trip up to Clarksville on Wednesday for a matchup with Austin Peay. The Governors put four runs up in the bottom of the first inning and maintained that lead through the rest of the contest.

The Bisons put a runner on base in the top of the first inning with freshman Alyssa Hastings knocking a double to right field and making her way to third on the next play, but it was the Governors who found the scoreboard first.

After putting their first two batters on base, the Governors sent a home run out of left center field to put up three runs early in their first turn at the plate.

Austin Peay extended their lead minutes later after their runners once more took to the bases and tallied their fourth run of the game in the first frame.

The two squads locked the match down defensively after the first inning, at times holding each other to three up, three down innings and sending each other as far as third base to no avail.

The Governors' lead held through the final pitch and the Bisons drew their second midweek loss of the season.

The Bisons will return to Draper Diamond on Friday, Mar. 8^th to host their first doubleheader of the weekend in the Music City Classic as they face Iona at 2:00pm CT. Their second game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
