Track & Field Adds Two More Individual Champion Titles to Their Tally on Day Two

CONWAY, Ark. – Lipscomb track & field took on the second day of the 2024 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday in Conway. The Bisons racked up two more ASUN Champion individual titles to their tally as Aislinn McElhaney and Leonie Saurer placed first in the women's long jump and 3,000m steeplechase respectively.

Aislinn McElhaney recorded another dominant performance in the long jump this season for the Bisons to claim first place with a 6.45m (21' 2") jump, out-jumping the next closest competitor by over 0.4 meters and setting a new conference record for the Outdoor Women's Long Jump at the ASUN Championship.

Freshman Leonie Saurer brought home the Bisons' second ASUN Individual Champion title of the day in the women's 3,000m steeplechase. Saurer's personal best time of 10:16.20 earned her the 2024 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Women's 3,000m Steeplechase title by more than four seconds.

The Bisons added a slate of podium finishes to their tally as well as Anna Richardson opened the day with a second place finish in the heptathlon with a final score of 4934.

Bella Jackson and Brady Yingst earned second place finishes as well with Jackson logging a jump of 1.76m (5' 9.25") in the women's high jump and Yingst clocking a 8:52.34 in the men's 3,000m steeplechase.

Yingst was joined by fellow Bison AJ Goecker on the podium in the men's 3,000m steeplechase as Goecker logged a time of 8:59.79 to claim third place in the event.

The squad saw a further eight Bisons qualify for the final rounds of their running events, set to take place on Saturday and highlighted by Braeden Ofosu-Kwarteng finishing first in the preliminaries of the men's 400m dash.
