NASHVILLE – On Aug. 27
th, the NCAA announced the results of their USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, in which the Bisons ranked 11
th.
Lipscomb Women's Cross Country finished the 2023 season in 11
th place and opens the season without missing a beat. The Bisons received 206 points to solidify their ranking between the Tennessee Volunteers (214) and the Alabama Crimson Tide (194).
In addition to their national ranking, Lipscomb placed 4
th in the South Region in the 2024 NCAA DI Women's Cross Country Regional Preseason Rankings, moving up a spot from the previous season. The rankings in this category are determined by a member coach in each region, whose job it is to weigh the strengths of returning teams.
Last year the Lipscomb women's cross country team had a historic season. The Bisons won the ASUN Championship by an astounding 59 points, totaling 15 points to earn their 10
th ASUN Conference Championship title. In the post-season, Lipscomb finished 11
th overall at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Championships.
The Men's Cross Country team made an appearance of their own in the poll, ranking 6
th in the 2024 NCAA DI Men's Cross Country Regional Preseason Rankings. Last season, the Bisons finished 3
rd at the ASUN Conference Championship and 5
th at the NCAA Regional Championship.
The 2024 Regional Championships is scheduled to take place on November 15
th. Afterward, the NCAA DI Cross Country Championships will be held on November 23
rd at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
