The Bisons got off to a hot start with lead-off Alyssa Hastings opening the game with a double. Opening the matchup, Hastings was at the top of all NCAA Division I softball players with 13 doubles in 27 games this season. Brenna Sherman recorded an RBI single to send Hastings home, giving Lipscomb an early 1-0 lead on the Govs.

With the second-longest win streak in the country, the Govs responded to the Bisons' run quickly. Austin Peay launched two back-to-back homers to center field for a 4-1 lead before the end of the first inning.

Macey Ogle recorded her second double of the season to lead off the top of the second, and despite reaching runners on second and third, the Bisons did not score. Laine Barefoot kept the bottom of the second short and sweet, forcing the Govs to go three up three down.

Austin Peay returned the favor, recording three quick outs to end the top of the third. The Govs scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning for a 7-1 lead on Lipscomb.

With bases loaded and two outs in the top of the fourth, the Bisons had a chance to close the gap. Austin Peay was determined to hold onto the lead and left Lipscomb scoreless in the inning.

Courtney Sauer entered the circle for the Bisons to begin the bottom of the fourth, allowing no rush and entering the top of the fifth in a six-run deficit.

The Bisons recorded a hit in the fifth but no scores. To lead off the bottom of the inning, a Govs player hit her second home run of the day.

Lipscomb went three up three down again in the sixth and the Govs scored their ninth run on the day to end the game after six innings.
