NASHVILLE, TN – The Bisons took to Draper Diamond for a mid-week matchup against the Tennessee State Tigers. Lipscomb fought until the end of the game, but the Tigers left Nashville with a victory.
TENNESSEE STATE 2, LIPSCOMB 1
The Tigers got off to a hot start with a two-run homer to left-center after a Bisons' fielding error. Lipscomb finished the first inning with no hits, recording no runners on base.
Laine Barefoot started in the circle for Lipscomb and struck three batters out in the top of the second before TSU could extend their lead. With one out in the bottom of the inning,
Presley Rader tripled to left center.
Macey Ogle recorded a sac fly to send Rader home, cutting the Tigers' lead to 2-1.
The Bisons struggled to find a hit for the remainder of the game, recording no hits and no bases until the bottom of the sixth. Lipscomb was unable to capitalize on the opportunity, entering the final inning of regulation down one run.
In the bottom of the seventh, Lipscomb found themselves in a position to score and send the game into extra innings. Mac.Ogle doubled to left center with one out and pinch runner
Lucy Ream advanced to third during the next at-bat.
Tori Womack stepped up to the plate with two outs and a runner on third, but the Tigers' pitcher capped off her evening with a strikeout.
Laine Barefoot faced 30 batters on the day, allowing just 5 hits and 2 runs with 6 strikeouts.
Macey Ogle hit 1-2 with an RBI and a doubled.
