
Women's Golf in First at ASUN Championship

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Lipscomb Women's Golf used another solid round on Monday to move into first place at the ASUN Championship at RTJ Hampton Cove. The Bisons shot a 300 (+12), the second-best round of the day to open up a nine-stroke lead on the competition heading into the final round. The Bisons sit at 592 (+16) while second-place Stetson is a combined 601 (+25) with Florida Gulf Coast at 602 (+26) rounding out the top three.
Lipscomb's Casey Yu stayed consistent on Monday, putting in a 71 (-1) for the second-consecutive day. Yu got her day started off with a birdie, and sat at (-2) through the first nine. She was (+1) in the back nine, but all together finished with a 71 (-1), bringing her tournament score to a 142 (-2). She is two strokes ahead of Lousiane Gauthier of Florida Gulf Coast who is even.
Katya Tibbetts was one of Lipscomb's bright spots on Monday, greatly improving in her second round. Tibbetts scored a 75 (+3) on Sunday, but heated up with a 71 (-1) on Monday. Her impressive round saw her shoot 11 spots up the leaderboard to sit alone in third place. Tibbetts was even heading into her final three holes, and a birdie on 16 put her in good position as she finished the afternoon.
Lauren Thompson struggled on Monday, shooting an 82 after struggling on the greens. All told, Thompson dropped 17 spots and is tied for 19th on the tournament at 152 (+8).
Tzunami Polito also improved greatly in her second round. After shooting an 81 in her first 18 holes, Polito fired off a 76 in the second round to move nine spots up the standings. Polito sits at (+13), tied for 38th. Bridget Craig rounded things out for the Bisons with an 83 in the second day of competition. After shooting a 76 in the first round, she is tied for 43rd at (+15).
Lipscomb will look to win the ASUN Championship for the second time in three years on Tuesday in Huntsville.
