Sunday in Baja was filled with intentional love, confident communication, and beautiful moments of connection. We started our day at church with the local community. When we arrived, we quickly began breaking down the language barrier—asking the kids to play soccer and using Google Translate to help with conversations!
After the service, the church graciously provided us with lunch—delicious tamales and refreshing horchata. We had a bit of free time between lunch and the evening service, so we made the most of it. We played a new game at a local coffee shop, drove to the beach for an early dinner, and spent time asking intentional questions to get to know one another better.
As dinner ended, we were excited and eager to return to the church for the evening service. After the service concluded, the pastor shared how grateful he was for our presence and how deeply he wanted to get to know us. In a heartfelt moment, he and his family invited each of us to stand at the front of the church to share our names, where we're from, and a bit about our families.
This gesture meant so much to us—especially because it came
after everyone at the evening service had already introduced themselves and shared about their own families. We were truly touched. It was a powerful reminder of the beauty of slowing down, being present, and showing interest in others—even across language barriers.
How sweet of the Lord to create space for connection despite us knowing little Spanish and them knowing little English. Today, we were invited in, loved intentionally, and fed—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. What a joy it's been to be together, to be vulnerable, and to laugh—a lot!
