Lipscomb Women's Golf Claims The Robbie Title, Howell Wins Individual Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Lipscomb University Women's Golf team closed out its fall season in dominant fashion Tuesday, capturing the team championship at The Robbie, hosted by the Bisons at Temple Hills Country Club.

Lipscomb finished atop the seven-team field with a three-round total of 862 (-2), posting rounds of 287, 287 and 288 on the par-72, 6,386-yard course. The Bisons secured the team title by an impressive 38 strokes over second-place Tennessee Tech (900), while four Lipscomb golfers finished inside the top five individually.

Savannah Howell led the way for the Bisons, claiming the individual championship with a nine-under-par 207. Howell opened the tournament Monday with rounds of 69 (-3) and 68 (-4) to take the individual lead before closing with a two-under-par 70 on Tuesday to secure the title by eight strokes.

Christina Surcey followed in second place, finishing the tournament at one-under-par 215. Surcey opened with a three-under-par 69 before carding an even-par 72 in the second round. She concluded the tournament with a 74 (+2) on Tuesday, giving Lipscomb the top two individual finishers.

Ava Bankston delivered a strong final-round performance, firing a three-under-par 69 on Tuesday to move into third place overall. After opening with a 78 (+6) and following with an even-par 72, Bankston finished the tournament at 219 (+3).

Eliza Yelverton added another top-five finish for the Bisons, placing fifth overall with a three-round total of 223 (+7). Yelverton recorded rounds of 73 (+1), 75 (+3) and 75 (+3).

Catherine Odom rounded out the Lipscomb lineup with a top-10 finish, tying for eighth place at 230 (+14). Odom opened with rounds of 76 (+4) and 79 (+7) before closing with a 75 (+3) in Tuesday's final round.

The Bisons also had four golfers competing as individuals. Katya Tibbetts led the group with a 10th-place finish at 231 (+15), recording rounds of 75, 79 and 77. Savannah Goodman followed in 14th place at 233 (+17), while Bridget Craig finished 20th at 236 (+20). Sonja Tibbetts rounded out the individual competitors in 32nd place at 245 (+29).

Lipscomb entered Tuesday's final round holding a 29-stroke advantage after shooting identical rounds of 287 on Monday. The Bisons maintained their strong play in the final 18 holes, carding an even-par 288 to extend their lead and secure the championship.

The victory capped off a successful home tournament for the Bisons, who claimed both the team and individual titles while placing all five lineup golfers inside the top 10.
