Day 2. We woke up this morning at 7:00am ready for our first full day here in El Salvador. First things first breakfast and an amazing devotional from Tatum Ultimatum.
We then board the bus with our amazing bus driver and arrive at the soccer field at 8:30 to the warmest welcome from the local El Salvadorans.
Our leading men Humberto and Klotzy, shared our mission and the gospel, and then us girls were split up into groups to play with the kiddos. Most of us are unable to speak great Spanish but luckily we are able to use soccer to break the language barrier and through that show the light of God through our interactions.
After 2 hours of playing, sharing doughnuts, and hanging out, the people were hungry and ready for lunch. At lunch we were able to share the experiences that we had with the kids and talk about what amazing things God is doing through the SII program. Lunch was amazing and we were fueled up and ready for some more soccer.
We met up with teenage boys to play a mixed full field game and share the amazing things that God was doing in our lives and how Christ offers us living water and the opportunity to have a relationship with Him.
After a dusty, competitive, fun game we were done with soccer for the day and ready for some needed showers and dinner.
Dinner was an absolute fire Mexican restaurant filled with more deep conversations and talking about our favorite parts of the day and how we saw how the team responded to our testimonies and hoping that the seeds we planted would grow in their lives.
After our last stop, we headed back to the hotel to have a team meeting and devotional. We talked about how we saw God move today. Mentioning how He uses SII and the people running it to bring people together and create an environment to show the people of El Salvador the goodness that God gives us.
We also talked about how when we watched the kids smiling, running around and interacting with us, how such little things in life can bring so much joy. Showing us that life doesn't have to be extravagant to be satisfied, it can be simple and be so fulfilling.
Overall, a great first day and we are pumped and ready to run it back again tomorrow.
