Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, TN - The Bisons split the day with the Knights of Bellarmine after coming back and winning 5-1 in the second game of the day.
How it Went
Game One: Lipscomb Battles but Falls Short, 4–2
Lipscomb showed early fight despite a tough start, recording six hits and drawing six walks on the day. Macyn Kirby led the offense, going a strong 3-for-4 with a run scored, consistently setting the tone at the top of the lineup.
After falling behind 4–0, the Bisons answered in the third inning with a momentum-shifting swing from Presley Rader, who delivered a two-RBI double to left field, scoring Kirby and Brenna Sherman to cut the deficit in half. Rader finished with 2 RBIs, providing the biggest offensive spark of the game.
Lipscomb continued to apply pressure late, putting runners on in multiple innings, including a two-hit fifth inning and a bases-loaded opportunity in the seventh, but couldn't find the timely hit to complete the comeback.
In the circle, Jesyne Espinal provided stability in relief, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and keeping Lipscomb within striking distance after the early deficit.
Game Two: Lipscomb Responds with Complete Team Win, 5–1
The Bisons wasted no time flipping the script in game two, putting together a much more complete performance on both sides of the ball.
Lipscomb struck first in the opening inning, as Brenna Sherman came through with an RBI double to right center, scoring Kirby for an early 1–0 lead.
After Bellarmine briefly tied the game, Lipscomb regained control in the fifth inning when Mallory Ogle ripped an RBI triple, driving in Elle Smith to make it 2–1.
The game broke open in the sixth inning, where Lipscomb capitalized on defensive miscues. Josephine Heuberger scored on an error, while aggressive baserunning from Grace Cassarello and Briley Burns led to two more runs, extending the lead to 5–1. Burns finished 2-for-3, continuing her strong presence at the plate.
In the circle, Courtney Sauer delivered a dominant complete-game performance, allowing just two hits and one run over seven innings, while working through traffic with poise to secure the win.
Depsite the loss in game one, Lipscomb showed resilience and composure in the second matchup—adjusting offensively, capitalizing on opportunities, and tightening up defensively. The return of Courtney Bauer in game two added an extra boost for the Bisons, reinforcing the pitching staff and signaling a positive step forward as the team continues conference play.
The Bisons will finish out their series against Bellarmine tomorrow at 1 pm at Draper Diamond.
